Recently playing Rimworld, I've focused on trying to establish colonies on the Ice Sheet. I try to pick locations with the lowest possible temperature, often where it drops to below -80c. Ice sheet is eminently survivable; you just have to be stingy in your use of wood and be ready to be more flexible in your dietary restrictions than if the colony is in a more temperate area. Note that cannibalism isn't REQUIRED, but you may be forced to resort to it if things don't go well.

Caravan out for whatever event (item stash, incapacitated refugee, enemy outpost, caravan request, etc). PacwynHenzo • 3 yr. ago Food wise Ice sheets are brutal. Build a butcher table, it's more efficient than a spot. Slaughter any pets at the beginning. Cannibals are incredible. Nutrient paste is key, save your little early food to use when you have a dispenser. Before you have hydroponics, it's not really viable to cook meals.
